How Important Branding Is To Your Marketing Strategy?
The large companies' strategies to promote their brand definitely influence our liking patterns in so delicate way that we never know about it. We see latest must have "mobile phones" on billboards while driving to and from offices. The Drink mat over lunch shows sparkling drinks to buy, is too a form of brand promotion. And our subconscious is delivered messages to adopt new inductions without our knowledge.
With most of the top brands in the world, we only have to see their logo to know which company it is. Almost everybody in the world knows which company is behind the golden arches, or the white tick. The power of strong brand awareness comes from the sense of familiarity it brings and with familiarity brings trust and confidence; after all, if a brand is familiar, it must be for a good reason, right?
Take a standard supermarket's economy baked bean tin alongside the more famous, more colourful Heinz alternative. The interior is pretty much identical; on a blindfolded taste test 4/5 people could not tell the difference between the tins of beans. There is, however a big difference in price; a can of Heinz is three times the price of its economy alternative. So why are these small green cans still flying off the shelf at a rate 500 million a year? The answer is; the branding.
Most of the time we see, when we buy a brand we are not only buying a product but we are presented a lifestyle. People get familiarize with the products and establish a sense of attachment with it and when it becomes intense it is called brand loyalty. It can trigger peoples' emotions with philosophies and lifestyles hence developing an emotional and psychological attachment to the product.
Brand awareness is another important factor in buying decision yet strong enough to neglect the price differences. We often happily pay way more than the same products available in the market just because it holds a familiar logo in the side. The simple technique to promote is simple, Exposure, as much as you can, to develop an urge that the customer say by himself that I like this, I trust it and would love to buy this brand. To maximize the exposure companies get their logo printed on the objects under common usage in home or office know as promotional merchandise. Every time we see a logo, it casts in our mind even stronger image.
